Text Box: September Meeting Description
Facilitator Information

“Do Not Go Gently”, narrated by Walter Cronkite, is an hour-long documentary film about the power of imagination in aging. Witness three extraordinary
artists who, in their youth, fundamentally influenced American culture, and now in old age, continue to
innovate.

One of the featured artists is composer Leo Ornstein, who lived in Green Bay until his recent death at age 109. The stories of the individuals in the film demonstrate that human development has unlimited potential and challenges the outdated notion that people who reach a certaing age have nothing left to contribute.
The film investigates the science of creativity and
aging uncovered by Dr. Gene Cohen, groundbreaking researcher and author on the subject. For up-to-date information on the documentary, go to www.donotgogently.com.

Katie Dykes, MSN, APNP,  will facilitate the discussion after the film. She is a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner at Prevea Clinic in Green Bay. Katie is a member of the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners, the American Geriatrics Society, and the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Assn of Greater Wisconsin.
