Text Box:     Text Box:     PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE    Have you checked out our website lately?  Visit www.newdna.org and check out the updates.  We have included legislative updates and WNA news on our site.  You will also find the officers listing for this term and a calendar of events for our district.  The program committee did a great job of planning educational programs for this year. We have received educational grant money from pharmaceutical companies for some of these programs.    We have been invited to participate in the Fox Valley DNA annual dinner cruise on September 11th.  Cost is $28.05 per person.  An invitation is enclosed in this issue of PRN.    The 2003 WNA Annual Convention is scheduled for October 23-25, in Eau Claire, WI.  All renewing members of WNA will receive an appreciation certificate for $25.00 to be used towards registration for this year’s conference.  WIPAC again will be holding a silent auction on Friday, October 24th.  Last year NEWDNA donated several smaller baskets, which were very well received.  Anyone wishing to donate a basket or contents for a basket, please bring to the September or October meeting.  This is a great way to support WINPAC!    WNA has identified a variety of state statutes in which the inclusion of the APNP is needed to codify existing practice.  Currently Medicaid and Medicare reimburse for services rendered by the APNP for these services but state statutes do not reflect these authorized services.  This important piece of legislature will be introduced shortly and WNA needs your help to pass this legislation.  It is vital that APNPs call their legislators and educate them about their practice and how passage of this legislation will improve patient’s access to care.  There will be an APNP lobby day at the State Capitol on September 24, 2003 from 9:30 to 12:30.  This day is free to WNA members.  You can find more information on our district website.   Bonnie Groessl
