FINANCE: The President, Secretary, and Treasurer met on October 29, 2002 to audit the financial records of NEWDNA from June1, 2001 through May 31, 2002. The records were found to be in order. A letter was sent to the Treasurer and copies to the President and the Secretary for the minutes.

MEMBERSHIP: No new members in October, 2002. WNA has a Power Point presentation, The Right Choice, to assist with recruitment. At the District Presidents meeting, each President shared the recruitment and retention efforts of their District. Several suggestions included scheduling a breakfast meeting for RN’s who work other shifts and are not able to attend the Tuesday night meetings, inviting student nurses (via the local SNA’s) and BSN Completion RN’s to our meetings, and speaking to community groups.

PUBLICITY: No report.

NOMINATIONS: No report.

Smoke Free Wisconsin: At the October, 2002 program meeting, the membership tentatively approved the resolution by the Wisconsin Children’s Initiative to reduce youth smoking. A motion was approved to support this resolution. A copy will be placed in the PRN.

NEWDNA Web Site: The web site for the District went on-line around November 1, 2002. The address is: newdna.org. It will link to WNA’s web site at no cost to the District.

NEWDNA Goals: No report.

New Business:

WNA Leadership Day: Carol Morris reported the major topic of discussion was Collective Bargaining (CB) vs Work Place Advocacy (WPA) as it related to ANA’s proposed budget. Since Wisconsin is a WPA state, WNA did not approve the budget due to the fact that a major portion of our ANA dues is going toward CB. WNA is continuing to investigate this issue with other WPA states.

Community Service Project: It was suggested that we provide toiletry items to the prisoners or homeless and possibly participate in the CP Telethon.

Next BOD Meeting: March 18, 2003

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 1815.
