Region #3 Report: No Report
Report From the President: The President gave special thanks to Carol Morris for attending the Presidents’ meeting, in her place, during the Wisconsin Nurses Convention in Eau Claire. It was explained that the meeting was informal and little business was covered.
A survey form was received from the WNA. Information requested is basic information related to the history of the NEWDNA. The President is looking for some of the early documents where dates of the first meetings were recorded.
More ideas are being sought by the WNA from the NEWDNA for improving its membership recruitment and retention efforts. A lengthy discussion followed the President’s request for ideas to submit to the WNA.
Member comments:
*Extend more invitations to the Nurses Day, Legislative, and Unity Night events.
*Increase the individual efforts of the membership.
*Develop a schedule of informational sessions to promote the WNA to nursing faculty and
students. Katie Dykes has made presentations to Oshkosh student groups and suggested video-
taping sessions for greater exposure.
*Provide more links on individual Web sites.
*The NEWDNA has 138 members, but less than 20 are involved or attend meetings. It appears
that the Lakeshore district disbanded their association for lack of participation. What can the
NEWDNA do better?
-1-
*Should it be a requirement for students to attend meetings?
*Should membership be provided without charge for the first year?
*Would the issuance of CEUs be helpful?
The President will complete and submit the survey to the WNA and will include some of the comments of the membership.
