4.                Old Business

a.        Bylaws revisions based on structure changes proposed at the last meeting were presented. Minimal changes were proposed. The final proposed bylaws changes will be put on the web and in the PRN.

b.       Transition strategies to the new structure were proposed, including a more gradual implementation vs. a more immediate switch. The board favored the more immediate structure in light of the fact that we need to be prepared for the next election and to facilitate the recruitment of candidates.

  1. New Business

a.        Election ballots need to be out 30 days before the annual meeting. We will

need to facilitate the bylaws changes to incorporate the new structure for voting.

b.       Nurses Day Celebration: the board wishes to do something different this year. Examples: have a speaker and hors d’oeuvres or have a movie with popcorn. The idea emerged to do the event with other nursing groups similar to the way the Unity night was organized. St. Vincent’s Heritage Room was suggested as a possible location. The group decided to go with May 9th, and Julie will contact the other nursing groups for assistance. Carol will write something up about the details of the event for a flier and Bonnie will ask her husband to help with formatting and publicity. Judy and Katy will help with the event.

6.        Budget

Budget is due from Committee Chairs by March 1.

  1. Other Business

Connie Korger attended WNA Leadership Day. Nurse staffing was discussed, referencing an ANA model, utilizing the concept of a culture of patient safety.

        8.     Meeting was adjourned.  Next board meeting is March 21, 2006.
