Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 1710 by President Katie Dykes.
Minutes: The minutes of March 18, 2003 were approved with the following correction: Sharon Harder is the Region #3 Director, not representative.
Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s Report of March 1-31, 2003 was approved by consensus.
Region #3 Report: Katie Dykes put the report in the PRN Newsletter. Katie Dykes presented the WNA Ad Campaign, More than a Hero. It is a 15 second ad that will be running during Nurses’ Week. The cost is $15,790. The cost for the Region would be about $2500. The BOD did not feel the district could afford to contribute to the ad, since our budget is so minimal and it was not budgeted for this fiscal year.
Katie Dykes discussed a new video promoting nursing as a career, Today’s Nurse. The cost is $50. It is 8 minutes long. Katie Dykes will try to get a preview copy of the video for the next meeting.
WNA will propose to be an affiliate of ANA due to the collective bargaining issue. Many state associations are attempting to collect dues instead of ANA.
Committee Reports:
PROGRAM: The May program on Stress has been cancelled. It will be replaced with a program on Bioterrorism by Judy Freiderichs.
FINANCE: Brenda Tyczkowski presented the 2003-2004 Proposed Budget. A motion was approved to accept the Proposed Budget with revisions.
LEGISLATIVE: No report.
WINPAC: No report.
MEMBERSHIP: No report.
PUBLICITY: No report.
NOMINATIONS: No report.
BYLAWS: No report.
AWARDS: No report.
NURSES DAY: The committee needs help with set up and clean up. Flyers have not been distributed.
Old/New Business:
Goals will be approved at the General Membership Meeting today.
Katie Dykes inquired about the procedure for induction of officers for next month’s meeting. The specific procedure is outlined in the President’s manual.
Next BOD Meeting: TBA, sometime this summer.
